I shot this image whilst on location in London on a recce for a future job. On a very cold, still February day I was walking back along Waterloo Bridge heading north of the Thames towards the City. When looking to the right, the scene felt quite dramatic with the sun trying to break through the heavy cloud. From Waterloo Bridge the image is taken looking towards Black Friars Bridge. I like the fact that we see a large mix of architectural styles and eras from 17th century St Paul's to the left through the current sky scrapers to the late 19th century Oxo Tower on the extreme right. I thought it would be good to record, as over time the sky line alters, the cranes giving a sense of changes to come. I've cropped the image to avoid the road and railings, boats and pedestrians from the foreground which were a distraction in a very busy image. On such an overcast day, the clouds helped to bring some drama to the cityscape.
